The Placentia Area Historical Society (PAHS) held its annual meeting and election of officers on March 20 at the Placentia Area Development Association building. Two new board members were welcomed: Helen Griffin and Lorraine Kaczmarczykz. Lee Everts gave a report on the new computer program being used to record acquisitions at the museum.  She also outlined the benefits of being a member of the Canadian Museum Association which PAHS has decided to join.

President Tom O’Keefe outlined in the president’s report the activities of the past year which indicated an active and successful period.  Treasurer Cyril Bambrick gave his financial report and although expenditures exceeded revenues for the year there was still a small surplus on hand from previous years.

This was followed by the election of officers for the coming year.  Councillor Wayne Power conducted the election of officers resulting in the following: President Tom O’Keefe, Vice-President Christopher Newhook, Secretary Elizabeth MacDonald and Treasurer Cyril Bambrick, all being re-elected.

The election was followed by a short social break and then the group focused on a planning session to identify items that would go into a strategic plan for the society.

The next meeting of PAHS is set for late April.  Anyone interested is welcome to join the association.  Information can be obtained on the website atwww.placentiahistory.ca
